UK Pet Insurance
As a nation of pet lovers we need to ensure that should our pets need treatment we are able to pay for them to receive it. Unexpected veterinary fees can be very expensive.
Policies can be paid for by monthly premiums or one total payment each year. Premiums are carefully calculated taking into account average veterinary fees, where you live, the age of your pet and it’s breed. Pet insurance as with any other form of insurance has a 'cliam excess', this is the amount of money you have to pay towards the cost of any initial treatment your pet requires.
Any unforeseen incident can cost you money, for instance your pet could suffer an accident, fall
ill and they could even cause you to miss a holiday. Your pet could harm someone else it may not be intensioal but these things can happen. In the invent of your pet causing harm to someone or an accident you yourself would be held liable and the third party could sue you. For these reasons a Pet
Insurance Plan can help protect both you and your pet.
Pet Travel Insurance
Before travelling abroad with your pet it is legally required to be micro chipped so it
can be properly identified. You should make sure your pet is up to date with
all vaccinations, often blood tests are required to make sure your pet has
the right amount of protection and a certificate is then issued. This certificate
is valid until your pet is due for their next booster which are usually annually.
Before your pet enters the UK, you should have it treated against ticks and
tapeworms. This should be done between 24-48 hours before you check in for
your journey to the UK. If however you are going abroad on a day trip you
can have this treatment done before you go.
Once you have got a completed certificate to say your pet is fit and
fully vaccinated you can get an official certificate which will allow your
pet to travel.
You can insure your pet abroad for a range of unforeseen events such as
illness, injury, death due to any of the aforementioned, if your pet whilst abroad becomes too ill to travel then this could of course cost you alot more money than you would have hoped. Pet Insurance would help you cover these costs. You can insure your pet against theft, or it could be that you
actually loose your pet documents whilst abroad. You can insure your pet for
third party liability, should any costs or damages occur to a third party
whilst on holiday your Pet Insurance gives you peace of mind knowing you are
covered, we all want the best for our pets.
