UK Private Medical Insurance
Whatever your budget, Private medical insurance can be an option for you. It can provide cover for treatment, including surgery, for patients who are expected to make a full recovery.
Private Medical Insurance gives you access to private medical care in the event of injury or illness but it does not normally cover injuries or illnesses you had prior to opening a policy. A patient will usually be allowed the use of different hospitals and may be given the option of different benefit levels. Hospital accommodation, surgery fees, and drugs or medication may have to be paid for by you upfront should you require treatment quickly, a refund is granted once your claim has been processed. You will find that you are more likely to have the privacy of your own private room.
You pay either monthly or yearly premiums for your Private
Medical Insurance and you may find that the older you get the
premiums will rise. Premiums also tend to rise once a year but
are not usually influenced by the number of claims you make.
However should you have a no claims bonus applied to your medical policy then you may find your premium may rise once you have made a claim.
You will probably be asked to declare your medical history to
the insurance company when applying for cover, it is best to be
truthful as the company can ask your doctor for any detailed
information, so what you may not wish to tell them your doctor will. If you have a recurring medical condition, the
insurance company will either offer you a policy that does not
cover that condition, in some circumstances they will offer
you a policy that covers your reacurring condition but only after a pre-set
time has lapsed during which the condition has not arisen.
